Southside Museums Magnet School Wins
National Excellence In Urban Education Award

MIAMI -  Southside Elementary Museums Magnet School has been named a winner of the 2008 National Excellence in Urban Education Award from San Diego State University’s National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST).  Only 11 schools nationwide were chosen to receive this distinction.  The schools will be honored at the Third Annual NCUST Symposium on May 8-9, in San Diego.

“Southside combines caring teachers and administrators, innovative and exciting teaching strategies, and excellent systems for identifying and meeting student needs. By doing so, they have achieved remarkable results for the students they serve,” said Dr. Joseph Johnson, NCUST Executive Director.

Winners receive an award check for $1,000 and a large banner for their school, as well as a commemorative photo album, a profile on the NCUST website, and complimentary travel and registration for two people to the NCUST Symposium to receive their award.
