Edison Park Elementary’s Chess Team Ties for
First Place at National Championship
Miami – The eight members of Edison Park Elementary’s chess team competed against 2,200 students from all over the country last weekend in Pittsburgh, and walked away from the 2008 National Bert Lerner Elementary (K-6) Championship as national
co-champions.
The Edison Park team of 4th and 5th graders tied for first place with a private school from Philadelphia with 19 points after seven rounds of chess. The maximum number of points that can be won is 28. Edison Park finished ahead of 30 other schools.
