WHY: |
Last November, the Miami-Dade School Board unanimously voted to rename Opa-locka Elementary School after the beloved Board Member Robert Ingram, who passed away September 5, 2007. Dr. Ingram, who gave a lifetime of service to the community and was a champion for children, also had a long-standing connection to the City of Opa-locka. Dr. Ingram served as chief of the Opa-locka Police department in the 1980s and then as the city’s mayor for 12 years.
