MIAMI – Seven Miami-Dade public schools received national recognition from the Alliance For A Healthier Generation at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark., this week. The winners were among 43 schools nationwide recognized by President Clinton for creating healthy school environments to reverse childhood obesity trends.
The Miami-Dade schools: North Beach, Silver Bluff, G. W. Carver and Flagami elementary schools; Miami Edison and Miami Springs middle schools; and Felix Varela Senior High School, implemented best practices in areas including school meals, health education, physical education and employee wellness.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a partnership between the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation.
