M-DCPS KICKS OFF 2008 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN MIAMI - Some 1,000 Miami-Dade public school students, teachers and administrators kicked off the 2008 United Way campaign with an energetic breakfast rally today at Parrot Jungle Island. Guests included former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman, Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho and student government representatives. The innovative Fútbol Kingdom Challenges Group put on soccer demonstrations, and “DJ Kalid” of 99 Jamz and the musical group, Pretty Ricky, encouraged the audience to support the United Way.
“When we talk about people who ask for so little and do so much for our community, United Way tops the list,” Carvalho said.
