WHY: |
Currently, Miami-Dade County ranks number one in the nation with regards to new HIV infections. This represents a total of 11,650 residents infected with the HIV virus. Miami-Dade County is also number one in the state with regards to pediatric AIDS cases. In an effort to reverse these trends, many initiatives are targeted towards youth ages 15-25, who represent 50 percent of all new HIV infections in the United States. |
