FIRST GRADER FROM JANE ROBERTS K-8 CENTER WINS
HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH ART CONTEST

TALLAHASSEE – Samantha Garcia-Graisen, a first-grade student at Jane S. Roberts K-8 Center was the winner of the Governor’s Hispanic Heritage Month art contest. Governor Charlie Crist honored her at the Governor’s Mansion yesterday evening for her winning artwork.

The annual art contest is open to all Florida students in Kindergarten through 3rd grades. Two winners are chosen. This year’s theme touched upon the state’s name, which comes from the Spanish word La Florida, a flowery or plant-filled space.  Students could draw or paint a picture and original artwork that represented the beautiful flowers, trees or plants found across the state.

Samantha was the only winner from Miami-Dade County. Winners will receive a $250 check or a gift card.
