SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO GETS INDUCTED IN THE FIFTH EDITION OF FLORIDA HISPANIC YEARBOOK

Miami – Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho was inducted into the Florida Hispanic Yearbook’s fifth edition at a recent ceremony at Florida International University’s College of Business, along with other prominent Hispanic leaders of South Florida.

The Florida Hispanic Yearbook is a one-of-a-kind directory for and about the Hispanic community of South Florida. The yearbook includes the listings of prominent and distinguished Hispanics from the fields of business, education, philanthropy and the military. It also includes a listing of Hispanic non-profit organizations in Florida, Hispanic publications and media outlets, state officials, Hispanic-owned firms and annual events.

“Like so many others that have been recognized this evening, I came to this country and through dedication and hard work, I was able to take advantage of the many opportunities that America has to offer its citizens,” said Carvalho in his remarks at the ceremony.

Other prominent Hispanics recognized include: U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Miami-Dade School Board Member Renier Díaz de la Portilla, Commander of the 6th Army Brigade Col. Francisco Betancourt, Navy Cmdr. Mery Angela Sanabria Katson, and Dean of F.I.U.’s Business Administration Dr. Joyce J. Elam.
