SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS TRAVEL TO
‘RALLY IN TALLY’

Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho and six Miami-Dade School Board members joined parents, students, teachers, school administrators and concerned citizens at the Capitol building in Tallahassee today to advocate for public education funding.  The gathering, organized by the Florida PTA and nicknamed the “Rally in Tally,” drew education supporters from all over the state.

School Board Vice Chair Marta Pérez and School Board members Agustin J. Barrera, Lawrence S. Feldman, Perla Tabares Hantman, Martin Karp, and Ana Rivas Logan joined a delegation of more than 600 South Floridians who traveled to the state capital to rally against further cuts to education.

Superintendent Carvalho began the day at the Capitol building at a breakfast with Miami-Dade County students, many of whom  went on to visit with Florida’s legislators to advocate for support of public education funding.  Speakers at a mid-day rally on the Capitol steps emphasized that public education is a core, critical and constitutionally mandated investment that should be held harmless from further budget cuts.
