M-DCPS HONORS PRINCIPAL, EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR
AT 4TH ANNUAL 'EDDIES' FETE
MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Public Schools honored its finest employees at an awards ceremony last night at Jungle Island. Miami Lakes K-8 Principal Rosy Calvo won top honors as the District Principal of the Year.
Calvo, herself a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, has been at Miami Lakes K-8 for nine years. Under her leadership, the school has earned nine straight “A” grades from the state. She also oversaw the school’s massive transition from an elementary school to an innovative K-8 center.
The principal also has a great rapport with her students’ parents. “Calvo rocks!” exclaimed Miami Lakes resident Frank Diaz, who’s 7-year-old daughter Sofia attends Miami Lakes’ gifted program. “Whenever I needed to see her, she has been extremely accommodating and resolves any situation immediately.”
Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho presented the 4th Annual Education Awards for Exemplary Service, known as “The Eddies,” which recognize the outstanding contributions of M-DCPS educators, support staff and administrators.
