M-DCPS TO HAVE REVISED DISMISSAL TIMES
JUNE 2-4, 2009

MIAMI – At its May meeting, the School Board approved an amendment to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools /United Teachers of Dade contract, which changes student schedules for the last three days of school.

The new schedule for the last three days of school is as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 2 is a traditional Early Release Day Schedule for students
  • Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4 – are Half-Day Schedules for students 
    • Elementary and K-8 Center classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:32 a.m.
    • Middle school classes will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m.
    • Senior high school classes will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 10:45 a.m.

Students will have both breakfast and lunch each day before dismissal. Students, who currently attend after-school care programs operated by the principal or through outside agencies, will be provided extended care starting at dismissal and ending no earlier than 6 p.m.  There will be no additional cost to parents for this extended day. These after-school care services will only be available to currently enrolled students.

Student bus schedules will remain the same in the morning. Bus schedules will be adjusted for the new dismissal times.
