NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS STUDENT MUSICIAN MIAMI – Tony Madruga, a 10th grader at New World School of the Arts, was part of a jazz quartet that performed at the White House recently to kick off a music series sponsored by first lady Michelle Obama. Tony, who played the piano, can be seen in a two-and-a-half minute CNN video clip on the network’s website. In the clip, Obama calls jazz “America’s greatest artistic gift to the world,” and shares anecdotes about her jazz-loving maternal grandfather while the quartet plays.
