SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO HAILS VETO OF SB6

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho hailed the veto of Florida Senate Bill 6 today.

“Yesterday, the Miami-Dade School Board, in a bold and courageous action, took a stance against the bill,” Carvalho said.  “The Governor has listened to the people of Florida and has responded to their concerns.”

The School Board approved 7-0, a resolution proposed by Dr. Marta Perez in support of the teaching profession, and in opposition to Senate Bill 6.

“While the school district has always supported accountability and teacher quality, legislation to achieve these ideals must be crafted with the full participation of all of our stakeholders,” Carvalho said.
