SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO LAUDS EFFORTS OF LOCAL LEGISLATORS

MIAMI - Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho lauded the Dade Legislative Delegation’s efforts in fighting to preserve per-pupil funding for the upcoming school year. Carvalho cited their leadership and diligence in supporting the hard work of teachers and ensuring that public school funding remains a priority among Florida lawmakers.

“Members of our local legislative delegation deserve our collective gratitude,” Carvalho said. “They have demonstrated exceptional courage and have shown this community that they care about public education.”

Superintendent Carvalho also lauded the delegation’s efforts in fighting for and funding a study to review the state’s current education funding distribution formula. “I am pleased that our representatives are taking another look at the distribution of public education funding,” Carvalho said. “The formula must reflect the varying characteristics of the 67 school districts across the state to better serve the students in all Florida school districts.”

“The voices of our community have been clear,” said Carvalho. “The message is simply this: support students and teachers by giving schools the resources they need so that every child has the opportunity to excel academically.”
