ELEVATE MIAMI TO PROVIDE 600+ FREE COMPUTERS, INTERNET ACCESS
FOR M-DCPS STUDENTS, FAMILIES TO SUPPORT
LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM, JUNE 1

Miami — Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho and City of Miami officials will participate in an Elevate Miami Computer Distribution event with more than 150 students and their families on Tuesday, June 1, at 4:30 p.m., at Miami Edison Middle School.  The school is located at 6101 N.W 2nd Avenue, Miami.

During the event, students and families will receive information on the Elevate Miami program, Internet safety and an overview of online learning tools found on the M-DCPS website. The event will culminate with the distribution of computers.

The City of Miami, in partnership with M-DCPS, will award an additional 311 computers to Miami students, which brings the total number of computers awarded this year to 679 computers and a total of 1543 computers since the program began in 2008.

ELEVATE MIAMI aims to prepare all Miami residents for a leadership position in the global economy, establishing public and private partnerships that facilitate affordable technology, including low-cost/free Internet access, employable skill sets and economic opportunities for all Miamians.

Contributing partners include Knight Foundation, AT&T Foundation, PerScholas and Microsoft and the Miami-Dade Broadband Coalition. This unique collaboration is part of the City of Miami Education Compact and builds upon the Superintendent’s Links to Learning Initiative.
