15 MIAMI-DADE SCHOOLS TO BE HONORED BY ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION FOR EFFORTS TO COMBAT CHILDHOOD OBESITY MIAMI – Fifteen Miami-Dade public schools will receive national recognition on Tuesday, June 15, in New York from the Alliance For A Healthier Generation and the William J. Clinton Foundation for transforming their campuses into healthier places for students and staff. The winners are among 178 other schools nationwide that will be recognized by President Clinton for creating healthy school environments to reverse childhood obesity trends. Schools are eligible for Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum National Recognition Awards based on their level of achievement, based on areas including school meals, health education, physical education and employee wellness. Bronze Winners Silver Winners The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a partnership between the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation to create a healthier generation by addressing one of the nation’s leading public health threats – childhood obesity. Earlier this year, the Alliance became a Founding Member of the Partnership for a Healthier America, the independent, nonpartisan organization created to support the goals of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move!
