M-DCPS RANKED NO. 1 IN TECHNOLOGY BY COUNCIL OF GREAT CITY SCHOOLS

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Public Schools scored the highest among school districts nationally in Information Technology, according to a report released by the Council of Great City Schools, this week. The report, Managing for Results in America’s Great City Schools, identifies performance measures, key indicators, and best practices in urban public school districts across the nation. It is intended to help urban public school systems measure their performance and improve their non-instructional operations.
 
Miami-Dade schools received a score of highest performing in five of the six Information Technology categories that were analyzed. The District scored in first place in the country for data collected in 2008-09.
 
Information Technology categories included:
 
•           IT General (Age of computers, IT Spend per student, IT spend per FTE)

•           Help Desk (First contact, customer satisfaction)

•           Security

•           Application Software (Fixes returned to development)

•           Network Availability

•           Network Operations Cost (Bandwidth per student, telecommunications cost per student)
