M-DCPS CREATES ‘SUMMER FUN PACKETS’ AVAILABLE ONLINE Miami-Dade County Public School has created a series of online “Summer Fun Packets” – bundles of fun activities divided by grade level and subjects that parents can use to promote learning throughout the summer break. The packets are at www.dadeschools.net/summerfun/. These fun activities are available for elementary, middle and senior high students in four subject areas: language arts/reading, mathematics, science and social studies. Educational web links also are included with each packet with the caveat that parents supervise their child’s Internet use. The Packets also urge parents to encourage their child to read at least 30 minutes each day, and includes links to the Miami-Dade Public Library’s Summer Reading page: www.mdpls.org, and Barnes & Nobles’ Summer Reading page: www.barnesandnoble.com/summerreading/.
