SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL EDUCATION SUMMIT IN NEW YORK CITY

MIAMI - Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho will be among distinguished speakers and top educators participating in an upcoming education summit at New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza. The summit will take place September 27-28, 2010. Presented by NBC News, Education Nation will be a nationally-broadcast in-depth conversation about improving education in America. The two-day summit is a call to action to tackle the challenges in education and highlight exciting opportunities for innovative reform.

Other invited panelists include U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Harlem Children’s Zone CEO Geoffrey Canada, Delaware Governor Jack Markell, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, President of MIT Susan Hockfield, Civil Rights Activist Al Sharpton, and a host of top leaders in education.

“For many years, the issues facing Miami’s education leaders have served as precursors to the challenges that school districts across the nation are now facing. This conference is a wonderful opportunity to bring current issues and possible solutions to the table and assist education leaders from across the nation as we grow together,” said Superintendent Carvalho.
