MIAMI FOOTBALL OFFICIALS CELEBRATE 31 EDUCATION CHAMPIONS THIS WEEK

Thirty-one middle school students were chosen as Education Champions by their feeder pattern high schools for their success both in the classroom and on the football field, and after writing a 100-word persuasive essay on “Why I should be the Education Champion.”  The students will become honorary captains for their respective home high school’s football team when 16 teams compete this week.

The Education Champions recognition is a community service project developed by the Greater Miami Athletic Conference Football Officials Association (GMACFOA).

All 31 champions, along with their parents, will be invited to attend the game for free, be introduced over the public address system and will participate in the pre-game coin toss with the Referee and the team captains. Each champion also will receive a commemorative coin and an autographed football from the high school team.

For more information, contact Dr. Joe Underwood, President GMACFOA, 305-649-9800, or via email underwoodj@dadeschools.net; or Karen Cohn at kdcohn@dadeschools.net.
