WHY: |
The purpose of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Chef Partnership Program is to partner local celebrity chefs, Michelle Bernstein, Kris Wessel, Ken Lyon and Frank Jeannetti, with schools that are in the same neighborhood as their restaurant and/or schools with which the Chefs may have a direct connection. Engaging students and staff in culinary skills, food preparation and expanding nutrition knowledge are important steps to improving eating habits and increasing meal participation through a fresh approach to school food service. The Chefs work with the food service staff at their school on a monthly basis.
This month’s activity is to create a dessert that can be featured on their restaurant’s menu, highlighting the Chef Partnership program. This will be the first time Culinary Arts students from Miami Edison Senior will participate in this activity. |
