W.J. BRYAN ELEMENTARY MUSEUMS MAGNET SCHOOL RECEIVES W. J. Bryan Elementary School received a $4,850 Toolbox for Education grant from Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation for the restoration of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) fountain and pond in their center courtyard. Bryan Elementary is one of more than 450 schools to be awarded a Lowe’s grant for parent-initiated school improvement projects benefiting K-12 public education across the United States. The WPA fountain with a pond in the center will be restored to its former beauty, including aquatic plants and tropical fish. It serves as an extended classroom for students studying ecosystems. The third- and fourth-grade students, who are studying the history of the school, will observe, document, and take an active part in the renovation process, which is expected to be completed in May 2011. # # # 11-JS/005/HD |
