M-DCPS TO HOLD LINK COMPUTER TRAINING AND DISTRIBUTION EVENT AT
FREDERICK DOUGLASS ELEMENTARY

WHY:

Over the two-day event, 150 refurbished desktop computers will be distributed to Frederick Douglass Elementary parents through Miami-Dade County Public School’s LINK (Learn Ideas, Navigate Knowledge) program. LINK has worked with the 35 Differentiated Accountability (DA) schools since the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year to provide digital literacy training and outreach campaigns in order to increase the relevance of broadband in people’s everyday lives. Over the lifetime of this two-year federally funded grant, the LINK program will provide up to 6,000 eligible students with a computer for $25 and free broadband Internet service for one year.
