M-DCPS BEGINS 3RD YEAR OF INNOVATIVE, NOTEWORTHY MIAMI - Miami-Dade County Public Schools has begun the third year of its noteworthy Success Academy, a program of intensive, data-driven, Saturday classes for students at the District's DA (Differentiated Accountability) Targeted schools in preparation for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The Success Academy, which consists of 13 three-hour sessions focusing on remediation and enrichment activities in reading, mathematics, science and writing, has had a proven track record of success in past years. Students receive breakfast, snacks, and transportation throughout the program. The 13 sessions, which run from 9 a.m. to noon, began January 8th at most schools, and will be made available to as many eligible students as possible at the elementary, middle and senior high school levels. The session dates include: January 8, 15, 22 and 29; February 5, 12, 19 and 26; March 5, 12 and 26; and April 2 and 9. The Success Academy is funded through several grants awarded to Miami-Dade County Public Schools and is offered at no cost to parents.
