M-DCPS TO HOLD 2ND ANNUAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS DAY

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Department of Food and Nutrition food service managers, assistant managers and satellite assistants, students and interested citizens

WHAT:

2nd Annual Health and Wellness Day

WHEN:

Friday, January 21 from 8:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.             
Farmer’s Market is open from noon – 2:00 p.m.

WHY:

Miami-Dade County Public Schools 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Day is held by the Department of Food and Nutrition to educate and reinforce the importance of personal health, healthy lifestyle choices as well as highlight the District’s Farm to School and Wellness Initiatives to food service staff. The event will include speakers discussing topics such as the District’s Wellness Policy, how to reduce the risk of heart disease, stress management and the principles of healthy cooking.  At noon, a lunch inspired by the District’s Celebrity Chef Partners will be served.  There will also be a health fair and the first on-campus Farmers Market featuring fresh, locally grown produce for sale.
