MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS HOSTED SPECTACULAR
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS EXPO

More than 2,000 participants including students, parents, teachers, industry and university partners attended the annual Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Expo, January 22.

Dr. Eduardo Padrón, Miami Dade College President, and Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho welcomed students to this year’s Expo, which was larger than ever and encompassed three fairs: the Elementary, the Regional, and the SECME competitions. The STEM projects help open the doors to college scholarships and advanced academic studies, as well as showcase the students’ vision and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in humanity.

Several School Board members were in attendance: Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall honored the Expo with a proclamation; Vice Chair Lawrence S. Feldman presented it to the students during the Expo’s inauguration; and Dr. Martin Karp, Dr. Marta Pérez and Raquel Regalado distributed awards and prizes to students in all three fairs.
