STATEMENT REGARDING EQUITY IN BUSINESS PRACTICES “Miami-Dade County Public Schools administrators have been meeting with concerned businesspeople, the NAACP, and the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce to address inequities in business practices. We are well aware of the need for reform, as evidenced by the report that was referenced at today's press conference - a report that was done by our very own Minority/Women Business Enterprise office. While everyone acknowledges that we are dealing with a 23 year-old problem, we have pledged to find solutions in 23 days. Ensuring equality is one part of the equation, but education will also be an important element as we work to let local business owners large and small know of the availability of opportunities that will be created.” “We are trying to accomplish all of this during the toughest times we have ever known, which is challenging.
