WHY:

This marks the fourth time that M-DCPS has been recognized, after being a finalist in 2006, 2007 and 2008. 

The Broad Prize for Urban Education honors urban school districts that demonstrate the best overall performance and improvement in student achievement while reducing achievement gaps among low-income and minority students.  The winner of The Broad Prize will be announced on September 20, 2011 in Washington, D.C. and will receive $550,000 in college scholarships for high school seniors.  The three finalist districts will each receive $150,000 in college scholarships.
