M-DCPS’ REGION V SCHOOLS WILL PERFORM APRIL 27 More than 20 Region V schools will present student musical, dramatic and dance performances at the “Dare to Dream Showcase” on Wednesday, April 27, to support the College Tour Institute (CTI). The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 Red Road, Pinecrest, FL, 33156. A reception for donors will be held at 5:30 p.m. A college awareness program governed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), the CTI creates college-bound communities that improve student learning and increases college-going rates among low-income and first-generation, prospective college students in collaboration with school, college, business, and community partners. The CTI is a component of The Foundation for Education Initiatives, Inc., which was created by the Miami-Dade County School Board to enhance student achievement and community engagement. Program participants reside across the southern end of the county. The program offers middle grade students the opportunity to begin planning their road to post secondary education. The initial year that students participate they will attend a four-week session, which includes one week of travel throughout the state to visit the University of Florida, Florida State University, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and Florida A&M University.
