WHY: |
"The Anatomy of Latin Jazz" educational workshop provides essential insights into the history and physiology of this American art form; exploring the lineage and parallels between Latin rhythms and the harmonic complexities of Jazz; demonstrating its technical characteristics and interpretations. The workshop provides students with an essential roadmap to capture and internalize the unique stylistic fundamental musical ingredients that pertain to Latin Jazz. The John A. Ferguson Jazz Band has been invited to represent the United States at the Olympic Games in London next summer. The band will hold a concert to raise funds toward travel expenses for the Olympic Games on May 24.
