DESPITE MORE RIGOROUS STANDARDS,
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ PERFORMANCE EXCEL
MIAMI – Today the Florida Department of Education released the School Performance Grades for elementary, K-8, middle schools, and eight senior high schools. Schools in Miami-Dade County received more “A” and “B” grades despite the special challenges faced by this district, a decline in funding, new standards, and a more rigorous assessment and equated scores.
The overall performance of Miami-Dade County Public Schools showed improvement from 2009-10 to 2010-11. Highlights include:
-
The number of schools receiving School Performance Grades of “A” and “B” increased, and the number receiving a grade of “F” decreased in 2010-11.
.
-
The number of schools receiving “F” grades in Miami-Dade County Public Schools was reduced by 50 percent. The number of schools statewide receiving an “F” was reduced by only 35 percent.
-
Less than one percent of the traditional M-DCPS schools received School Performance Grades of “F,” as compared to three percent of the charter schools.
-
Over 82 percent of all the schools in the District improved or maintained their School Grade for 2011.
-
80 percent of the District’s senior high schools received FCAT-component points in the highest point range used to determine Differentiated Accountability (DA) status.
Individual school performance grade results are available on the District website at: http://oada.dadeschools.net.
