COLLEGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS, JULY 26

More than 300 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) students will file into the Biltmore Hotel’s Country Club Ballroom at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, to be awarded “last dollar” College Assistance Program (CAP), Inc. grants to attend college. The Biltmore is located at 1200 Anastasia Ave., in Coral Gables.

Mark Trowbridge, President & CEO of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce will serve as Master of Ceremonies for this event, which has become a tradition in educational circles.  The Keynote Address will be delivered by past, present and future CAP recipients who will briefly tell their stories.

Founded by former and longest-serving School Board Member G. Holmes Braddock, and in collaboration with M-DCPS’ Division of Student Services and the Miami Foundation, CAP, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the diverse, multicultural, economically disadvantaged M-DCPS graduates, who have exhausted all available means of financial assistance.  CAP, Inc. allows them to attend the college of their choice through “last dollar” grant assistance.

Since 1979, CAP, Inc. has been working in collaboration with M-DCPS to provide millions of dollars in grant scholarships to students. Over the years, more than 10,000 students have received more than $11 million.

For further information, please contact Deborah A. Montilla, District Director, Division of Student Services at 305-995-7324.
