THE FLORIDA MARLINS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION STEPS UP TO THE PLATE FOR THE ACADEMY OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM PROGRAMS MIAMI – The Florida Marlins Community Foundation donated $2,500 to support the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT) programs at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. This contribution will help support teachers and students with professional development opportunities as well as enhance the curriculum. Ana Hernandez, Senior Director of Human Resources stated “after our experience with the two student interns this past summer, and experiencing firsthand what this program means to the future of so many young men and women in this community, it is our hope to continue to support these academy programs.” The Florida Marlins Community Foundation becomes a member of the Business and Education Champions at the Ambassador Level for the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism. These champions are a group of philanthropic donors who are leaders in the visitor industry community and make contributions to travel, tourism and hospitality education. Local business and community organizations can participate at several levels of partnership as an Academy Champion, Ambassador and as a Friend of the Academy. The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism is a member of the National Academy Foundation (NAF). NAF academies function as dynamic partnerships and collaborations between schools, teachers, administrators, business volunteers, and an active Advisory Board led by industry professionals. NAF Academy students complement their core academic studies with a focus on one of the following career themes: Finance, Hospitality & Tourism, Information Technology, Engineering or Health Sciences.
