The annual art contest is open to all Florida students in Kindergarten through 3rd grades. Two winners are chosen. This year’s theme focused on "Celebrating Hispanic Leaders in Business Past, Present, and Future."  Nicole was the only student winner from Miami-Dade County. Winners will receive $250.

The governor also will honor Dr. Erick Hueck, a chemistry teacher from Miami Senior High School, with the Excellence in Education Award for outstanding Hispanic teachers. Three winners are nominated by students and peers, and each will receive a $1,500 award.
