M-DCPS’ FAST TRACK TO CITIZENSHIP CLASSES
TO BEGIN JANUARY ’12 WITH $200,000 GRANT
FROM U.S. CITIZENSHIP, IMMIGRATION SERVICES

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) again has been awarded a two-year, $200,000 grant for the Fast Track to Citizenship classes in its Adult Education Centers to provide assistance with the naturalization application and intensive citizenship instruction for targeted lawful permanent residents (LPR).  The grant is part of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 Citizenship and Integration Grant Program.

Fast Track to Citizenship program will serve about 400 participants through the citizenship education and the naturalization application preparation components. The classes also will help LPRs improve their English language skills and knowledge of U.S. history and government as they prepare for citizenship.

The classes will be offered at seven schools around the District:
