M-DCPS TO JOIN IN ‘SLOW ROLL’ CARAVAN FOR HOMELESS AWARENESS Clear Channel radio personality “Mobile Mike” will visit students from the iPreparatory Academy in Downtown Miami on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 12:15 p.m. to kickoff a “slow roll” caravan of highly visible vehicles down Biscayne Boulevard to highlight the school system’s Homeless Awareness Campaign. Students will be wearing T-shirts and displaying cardboards promoting Homeless Awareness. The Miami-Dade Homeless Trust is inviting Miami-Dade residents to join a brigade aimed at ending homelessness in South Florida. As in past years, teams of people will be gathering on street corners, holding up cardboard signs to draw people’s attention to the issue. This event is the culmination of activities conducted in schools throughout Miami-Dade County, and in recognition of Hunger & Homeless Awareness Week held last month to raise awareness and promote ending homelessness in our community. For further information, please contact Deborah A. Montilla, District Director, or Laura Chiarello, District Homeless Liaison, Division of Student Services at 305-995-7324. # # # 11-JS/236/HD |
