SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES STUDENTS RECEIVE TOP HONORS IN THE
2012 MIAMI BRAIN BEE COMPETITION

MIAMI – Two students from the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) placed first and second in in the 2012 Miami Brain Bee Competition.  Anastassia Bobokalonova, a student at the SAS Wolfson Campus and a 2012 National Merit Scholar who will be attending MIT in the fall, placed first.  Jenny Poon, a student at the SAS Kendall Campus took second place in the 2012 Miami Brain Bee.  The event was sponsored by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Society of Neuroscience and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

The competition was open to high school students in grades 9-12 and the format was similar to that of a spelling bee, except that it tested students’ knowledge of the nervous system. The event took place on Saturday, March 17, at the Miami Science Museum, as part of the annual Brain Fair.
