Broad Prize Scholarship Surprise Announcement

Eight Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) students will be awarded $20,000 each in scholarship money by The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation. M-DCPS was awarded $160,000 in Broad Prize college scholarships in recognition of their finalist status for the 2011 Broad Prize. The prestigious Broad Prize for Urban Education is the nation’s largest education award, which recognizes large urban school districts that have shown the greatest overall performance and improvement while lowering achievement gaps among low income and ethnic groups. M-DCPS is a finalist for the 2012 Broad Prize. The school district has the distinction of being a finalist for the fifth time.
