UTD PASSES THREE ITEMS ON RE-RATIFICATION VOTE

MIAMI – The 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 Re-Opener Contracts between Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and United Teachers of Dade (UTD) passed a re-ratification vote of UTD bargaining unit members. The contracts included the Health Insurance Plan Memoranda of Understanding, in addition to the Memorandum of Understanding for Race to the Top (RTTT). The provisions of the contracts were re-ratified as follows:

• June 2011 Contract Language (Healthcare/Layoff Protection)
In Favor:        70 percent
Oppose:         30 percent

• August 2011 Contract Language (IPEGS/RTTT)
In Favor:        68 percent
Oppose:         32 percent

• February 2012 Contract Language (Healthcare/RTTT)
In Favor:        68 percent
Oppose:         32 percent

Participation in this re-ratification was significantly greater, exceeding 19,000 votes in each case.
