Students from the Success Pathways Program at The English Center will be donating 250 bookbags filled with school supplies to students at Coconut Grove Elementary School as part of a community service project. The English Center, part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Adult Education Division, has been assisting Miami's adult population since 1962 with classes that help them achieve better employment and improve basic skills. The Success Pathways Program at The English Center has incorporated a new twist in engaging young adults who left school with no diploma. Early research results at this center indicate that participants in the Success Pathways Program ages 16-22 are attending more hours in class than similar students in other classes. Preliminary data also indicates that many of the students have transitioned into other classes and others have obtained their GED after completing the program.
