KEY COMMUNITY LEADERS LEND SUPPORT TO MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ UPCOMING BOND REFERENDUM Miami-Dade County Public Schools received overwhelming support of the upcoming bond referendum from local, state and federal elected officials as well as leaders from across our diverse community. Local leaders recently met with Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho to discuss the upcoming bond referendum on the Nov. 6th ballot. The coalition of leaders lent their invaluable support to the $1.2 billion General Obligation (GO) Bond referendum, which will be used to modernize and construct schools throughout the district, including technology upgrades at all schools. The coalition reinforced their support based upon the Superintendent’s commitment to address the neediest schools across the county and transparency, equity and access to business and employment opportunities for local residents. In attendance: School Board Member Wilbert “Tee” Holloway, U.S. Rep. Frederica S. Wilson, Senator Oscar Braynon, II, State Representative(s) Daphne Campbell, Cynthia Stafford, Barbara Watson, Dwight Bullard, Mayor(s) Oliver Gilbert of Miami Gardens and Myra Taylor of Opa-Locka along with Miami City Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones. Not able to attend but also lending his support - newly elected State Representative Kionne McGhee. Community leaders, Architect Ronald E.
