SUPERINTENDENT ALBERTO M. CARVALHO NAMED
DISTRICT DATA LEADER OF THE YEAR
MIAMI – The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) has named Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho the winner of the District Data Leader of the Year Award. The banquet and awards presentation will be held Friday, October 26, at 11 a.m. in the Horizon Ballroom of Hotel Duval, 415 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Fla.
Carvalho was recognized for his innovative and effective use of data to drive student performance. A selection committee interviewed the finalists and chose the school superintendent who best employs innovative data research strategies, researches new methods and opportunities to improve the use of data, and builds partnerships within the community to bolster support and use of data systems.
FLDOE, in partnership with Microsoft, launched the program in 2010 to highlight the critical role district leaders play in supporting and encouraging the use of data, and in communicating data’s relevance to teachers, administrators, parents, students and other education stakeholders.
