MIAMI-DADE’S SCHOOLS TO CELEBRATE DIGITAL LEARNING DAY, FEB. 6 Miami-Dade’s public schools will celebrate Digital Learning Day (DLD) on Wednesday, February 6, in support of the District’s continued efforts to provide digital learning opportunities and innovative teaching. DLD is in line with District initiatives – bringing wireless technology to the classroom and expansion of online learning resources such as Links to Learning and Discovery Education – to expand students’ exposure to digital resources and provide students with digital learning opportunities. “Digital equity is one of our generation’s civil rights,” said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. “We are eliminating the digital deserts in Miami-Dade by empowering students and teachers with 21st Century technologies.” DLD is the culminating event in a year-round national awareness campaign to improve teaching and learning for all children. Hundreds of school districts, thousands of teachers, and more than a million students nationwide will encourage the innovative use of technology by trying something new, showcasing success, kicking off project-based learning, or focusing on how digital tools can help improve student outcomes. Various resources and activities are being planned, including the online broadcast of the DLD National Town Hall meeting featuring Superintendent Carvalho. Schools, teachers, and students in Miami-Dade are supporting the national campaign by participating in a host of activities, which include the following:
