SOUTH DADE SENIOR HIGH WINS 2013 MIAMI HEAT
BLACK HISTORY MONTH CHALLENGE

A team of students from South Dade Senior High School beat their peers from Broward County’s Miramar High School during the 4th Annual Miami HEAT Black History Month Challenge, and won a $4,000 grant for the school and HEAT tickets for the team.

Two of the NBA’s most notable legends, Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway, were captains on the panel, which comprises six students from each district. South Dade dominated the brain bowl categories in the areas of civil rights, historical timelines, famous faces, and sports legends.

One hundred of their peers cheered the team and also received Miami Heat t-shirts. For the first time since its inception four years ago, Miami-Dade County Public Schools won the championship title against Broward County Schools.

Jason Jackson, who serves as the voice of the Miami Heat, hosted the competition.
