SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO TO LEAD DISCUSSION ON COMMON CORE STANDARDS AT FLORIDA EDUCATION SUMMIT, FEB. 27 Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho will lead a discussion on Common Core Standards at the Florida Education Summit, “Breaking Through Mediocrity – Implementing the Common Core State Standards,” hosted by the Florida Council of 100, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Chamber Foundation, Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and AT&T. The panel discussion will feature Robert Corcoran, President & Chairman, GE Foundation; Dr. William Schmidt, Distinguished Professor, Michigan State University; Jason Zimba, Co-Founder, Student Achievement Partners; and Kelli Wells, Program Director, U.S. Education, GE Foundation. The Florida Education Summit brings together national, state, and local business and education leaders who will convene to examine issues facing Florida’s K-12 education system and solutions to improve student achievement.
