SCHOOL BOARD CHAIR PERLA TABARES HANTMAN TO RECEIVE HISPANIC LEADERSHIP AWARD FROM SOUTH FLORIDA HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

MIAMI – The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has selected Miami-Dade County School Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman as the recipient of the Hispanic Leadership Award in the President’s Education Award category. The award will be presented during the organization’s conference on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:45 a.m. at Doral Golf Resort and Spa. The location is 4400 N.W. 87 Avenue, Doral, FL 33178. The keynote speaker for the event will be Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho.

“It is an honor to receive this award from the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,” said Ms. Hantman. “Education is my passion and this award is really for every child under our care.”

Ms. Hantman is being recognized for her leadership in all areas of education.  She is receiving this honor because of her strong advocacy for the rights of women, students and minorities.  Her leadership is an inspiration to the community of Miami-Dade at large.
