SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES WINS 2013 MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION AND ADVANCES TO STATE School for Advanced Studies’ (SAS) Mock Trial Team earned first place at the recent Miami-Dade County District High School Competition. The finals were held at the historic Miami-Dade County Courthouse, where SAS defeated Law Enforcement Officers Memorial High School in the semi-finals and Our Lady of Lourdes in the final round, earning the opportunity to represent the county at State. Over the course of two weeks, the SAS team competed against several senior high schools in Miami-Dade County, ultimately defeating the district reigning champions for the past several years, Our Lady of Lourdes. The SAS Team advanced to compete in the State Mock Trial Competition to be held March 6-8, 2013 in Orlando. The SAS Team was comprised of the following students: 1.) Lisset M. Pino-Ros (Lead Prosecution Counsel) The Team Sponsor was Dr. Derrick Johnson, an AP American government teacher at the school.
