GRATIGNY ELEMENTARY WINNER OF ONLINE MATH COMPETITION

Gratigny Elementary School was recently named the winner of Sumdog’s Miami-Dade County competition. Forty-one participating students answered 31,229 questions correctly. During the contest 3,934 students answered more than 1.3 million questions countywide. Motivated by the competition, the school’s 6th grade students scored higher than the District’s average in math on the Winter Interim Test.

Sumdog is an online math site that engages students through national and local math contests, games and student activities. Children learn math and English by playing games against their friends. They then earn money to buy clothes for their avatar. Sumdog helps parents get involved by supplying weekly reports.
