ANNUAL COUNTYWIDE STUDENT ART EXHIBITION OPENS FRIDAY, APRIL 12 An ambitious and impressive collection of 460-juried artwork by Miami-Dade County Public Schools students will open a three-week showing at the Bakehouse Art Complex’s Audrey Love Gallery, with an opening reception on Friday, April 12, from 7-10 p.m. The exhibit will run until May 3, 2013. The Bakehouse is located at 561 N.W. 32nd St., Miami, FL 33127. The reception is free and open to the public. The Annual Countywide was developed more than 30 years ago by the Art Education Program to offer students and teachers the opportunity to showcase student artwork in professional galleries. Bakehouse, a nonprofit organization that provides a space and a community for emerging artists and artwork events, is hosting the annual show for the second consecutive year. The exhibition represents the best artwork produced by M-DCPS students during this school year. The juried pieces were chosen from among thousands of entries and encompass all media and technique in both 2-D and 3-D. This artwork demonstrates the development of new student skills, abilities, and interests; and emphasizes versatility, good design, and imagination. The Bakehouse Art Complex is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to attracting emerging and midcareer artists in South Florida to a workplace that provides affordable studios, exhibition galleries, and professional development opportunities.
