WHAT: |
Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition will hold the national launch of the I Can Do It, You Can Do It! (ICDI) program and will present awards to approximately 1,400 M-DCPS students with disabilities who have earned their PALA+ awards for the 2012-2013 school year. |

WHY: |
This event will amplify the importance of physical activity for individuals with disabilities. People with disabilities are less likely to engage in physical activity than those without disabilities. The obesity rate for children with disabilities is 38% higher than it is for children without disabilities, and the obesity rate for adults with disabilities is 57% higher than those without them.
